Our team is an ever-growing one filled with teachers and learners inside and outside of Bay Area jails. Here are just a few of the folks stewarding our efforts in the 2024-2025 academic year.
FACULTY SPONSORS
SARAH BRAYNE is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Stanford University. Prior to joining the faculty at Stanford, she was an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Texas at Austin and Founding Director of the Texas Prison Education Initiative. She is a Faculty Co-Sponsor of SJPEP.
LERONE A. MARTIN is the Martin Luther King, Jr. Centennial Professor in Religious Studies and
Director of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute at Stanford University.
He is a Faculty Co-Sponsor of SJPEP.
CARLIE WARE HORNE is the Clinical Supervising Attorney in the Stanford Law School's
Criminal Defense Clinic. She is a Faculty Co-Sponsor of SJPEP.

at the Haas Center for Public Service. He is a member of the SJPEP Advisory Board.
DEBBIE MUKAMAL is the Executive Director of the Stanford Criminal Justice Center
at Stanford Law School. She is a member of the SJPEP Advisory Board.
